Eligibility
End of Summer invites applicants from anywhere in Japan who are currently enrolled or have recently graduated from a Japanese university fine arts program, as well as practicing artists in early stages of their careers.
Selection Process
The selection panel looks for applicants who are interested in interacting with the local community and are able to work independently. The panel appreciates diverse artistic practices, but the most important qualities for the program are critical curiosity and ambitious intent.
Application
Part I - Letter of Introduction and Intent
Please submit an introduction letter up to two pages in length. We would like to know a little bit about your background, your work, and why you are interested in the End of Summer program.
Additionally, please let us know how you intend to make use of the residency opportunity and any projects you would plan to initiate.
Part II - Contact Information
On the second page please supply the following information:
Name, e-mail address, mailing address, website.
School affiliation, Degree completed or expected date of completion.
Part III - CV/Work Samples
Please provide your current CV, and 6 high quality images of recent work.
If you have moving image works: please upload video files to Vimeo or YouTube and provide links to them in a work samples list.
Submit
Your entire application should be submitted digitally as one PDF (images pasted into the PDF, ONE image per page).
Email your application to mail@end-of-summer.org, subject line in the email and PDF file should read: END OF SUMMER 2025 APPLICATION - (Your Name)
Following a review process, finalists will be notified by June 1st.
